Sr. Dr. Elizabeth Ngozi Okpalaenwe, (MSHR) holds a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Counselling (PhD), with emphasis on contemplative Psychology, from the University Empresarial De Costa Rica, San Jose. She obtained her Master’s Degree in Counselling at the University of East Anglia, England. She graduated from Abia State University 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education and has taught at Our Lady of Lourdes Secondary Schools Mankon, Bamenda, since 1999. In 2011, she became the Director and Counsellor in the Holy Rosary Sisters Counselling and Peace Center Bo, Sierra Leone. She is an experienced counsellor, with particular interest in skill training and therapeutic Counselling. She is specialised in face to face and on line counselling.
She published two novels in 2011, The Power to Succeed and The Power to Make a Choice, which are widely read and used both in secondary and tertiary institutions across Europe and Africa. She edited Trauma Healing Counselling Handbook in 2017. Her other psychological and Spirituality books include: Psychological Counselling for Africa – Handbook on Psychotherapy and Cultural Counselling in African Contexts. (2015, 2020) and Counselling & Psychotherapy Skills, A practical Guide for Spiritual Direction (2019). She edited two other books in 2019 which are: Cultures across Africa and psycho-spiritual practices in African Communities, Presently, she is a lecturer and coordinator of student affairs and quality assurance at the Psychospiritual Institute at Marist International University, a Constituent College of the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, Kenya.
Presently Sr. Dr. Elizabeth’s research areas are on mental health issues and first aids, ardent research on African cultural understanding of counselling and Nutritional healing and has published a number of articles in this area. She is doing another research on the effects of covid19 pandemic on the psychosocial wellbeing of the Lecturers and Counsellors in Nairobi, Kenya. Currently she is one of the Regional Councillor in the Kenyan Region of Holy Rosary Sisters (MSHR).
